Working & Safety in Chemical Laboratory, Preparation & Take Sample Workshop Book Course

Course Duration

5 Days

Course Description

This course is designed to integrate the various aspects and techniques within the field of separation science.  We will cover theory, instrumentation, and practice of modern separation techniques including gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and electro kinetic separations.  We will also discuss sample preparation methods.  The emphasis of the course is on practical, empirical, and applied aspects of the above, with sufficient coverage of theory to provide a thorough understanding of how the methods work and to facilitate method development.

Safety in the laboratory is an individual and personal responsibility, as well as a management’s duty. Staff training should be directed towards making safety considerations an attitude of mind and an integral part of all work procedures. No document can unsure safe practice within the workplace. • Safety is dependent on the: 1. Quality of the previous training and experience of its employees; 2. Testing and labeling of the chemicals which are available.

The unifying features of the various separations techniques are, not surprisingly, the fundamental physical parameters governing the separative process – including equilibrium, mass transport, bulk fluid transport, zone formation and perturbation, etc.  These unifying features will guide us through the course.

Course Objective

Safety in the laboratory is an individual and personal responsibility, as well as a management’s duty. Staff training should be directed towards making safety considerations an attitude of mind and an integral part of all work procedures. No document can unsure safe practice within the workplace.

Safety is dependent on the:

1. Quality of the previous training and experience of its employees;
2. Testing and labeling of the chemicals which are available;

My intent is that you leave this course with:

  1. A greater understanding of why and how separations techniques work as they do
  2. An ability to select and employ appropriate separations methods for various analysis problems
  3. An aptitude for making the calculations necessary in utilizing the various separation techniques.  Having met these goals, you will be able to effectively employ chromatography and other separations methods in your research.

Course Certificate

UMETTS Consultant certificate will be issued to all attendees completing minimum of  75% of the total tuition hours of the course.

Who Should attend?

Laboratory managers, analytical chemists, medical scientists, laboratory supervisors, research and development scientists, microbiologists, food technologists and quality assurance/control managers.
